Rb-Zn

Rb-Zn (Rubidium-Zinc) A.D. Pelton No phase diagram has been reported for the Rb-Zn system. The assessed phase diagram is an estimated diagram based on experimental data [53San, 71Bru]. One compound, RbZn13, which is isotypic with NaZn13 and KZn13, has been identified by [71Bru]. No other compounds have been reported. The estimated diagram resembles those of the Na-Zn and K-Zn systems, each of which is characterized by the one compound and extended liquid immiscibility. The width of the miscibility gap is greater in the K-Zn system than in the Na- Zn system. Extrapolating this trend toward greater immiscibility with increasing size of the alkali atom leads to estimation that, at 500 C, the solubility of Zn in Rb is <0.1 at.% and that of Rb in Zn is < 0.5 at.%. 53San: M.J.
