Pt-Th

Pt-Th (Platinum-Thorium) D.E. Peterson The assessed Th-Pt phase diagram is based primarily on [64Tho], who characterized the system up to 1500 C. Many of the phase relationships at higher temperatures were deduced by [64Tho] from the microstructures of the as- cast and annealed specimens. [64Tho] found that the lattice parameter of a 1 at.% Pt alloy aged at 1000 C decreased by only about 0.16% compared to pure Th, which indicates very low solid solubility. [65Geb] noted that ThPt5, ThPt, and Th7Pt3 undergo superconducting transitions near absolute zero K. [71Hil] determined by electrical resistivity measurements that ThPt exhibits normal metallic behavior over the range 1.5 to 300 K. 64Tho: J.R. Thomson, J.
