Pr-V

Pr-V (Praseodymium-Vanadium) J.F. Smith and K.J. Lee The assessed phase diagram for the Pr-V system is a calculated diagram that preserves the essential features of the diagram of [73Sav]. In the [73Sav] diagram, an extensive region of liquid immiscibility is shown at elevated temperatures, no intermediate phases occur in the system, and the terminal solid solubilities on either side of the diagram are restricted. The diagram shows monotectic depression of the melting of V by approximately 15 degrees, eutectic depression of the melting of Pr by a few degrees, and eutectoidal depression of the dcph = bcc transition in Pr, also by a few degrees. The assessed (calculated) diagram is qualitatively compatible with the [73Sav] diagram, and quantitative agreement is reasonable, particularly when uncertainties arising from component purity and other experimental variables are considered. 70Kau: L.
