Mo-O

Mo-O (Molybdenum-Oxygen) L. Brewer and R.H. Lamoreaux The assessed phase diagram for the Mo-O system is based primarily on the work of [69Cha], with some temperature modifications based on the thermodynamic modeling of the present evaluators. The principal stable oxide phases are MoO3, which melts at 800 с 5 C, and MoO2, which has been estimated to melt at 2600 с 100 K. Between MoO1.75 and MoO1.92 an extensive series of phases of narrow homogeneous ranges have been reported. Many of them can be described in terms of structures resulting from shearing along planes of the ReO3-type structure. Phases from different series sometimes have the same O/Mo ratio and correspond to polymorphs with different temperature ranges. Most of these phases are not stable in the binary system, although they are stable with respect to MoO2 + MoO3 and can be produced as metastable phases or can be stabilized by the addition of other transition metal oxides. 69Cha: L.L.Y.
