Mg-Tl

Mg-Tl (Magnesium-Thallium) A.A. Nayeb-Hashemi and J.B. Clark The equilibrium phases of the Mg-Tl system at 1 atm pressure are (1) the liquid; (2) the (Mg) solid solution, with a maximum solid solubility of 15.4 at.% Tl; (3) the stoichiometric Mg5Tl2, Mg2Tl, and MgTl compounds (there may be some solid solubility of Mg in MgTl); (4) the terminal solid solutions, ( aTl) and (bTl); and (5) three eutectic reactions, one peritectic reaction, two congruently melting compounds, and a eutectoid reaction. The assessed phase diagram is based primarily on review of select experimental data [05Gru, 34Gru, 38Hum, Hansen] and was obtained by thermodynamic modeling. 05Gru: G. Grube, Z. Anorg. Chem., 46, 76-93 (1905) in German. 34Gru: G. Grube and J. Hille, Z. Elektrochem., 40, 101-106 (1934) in German. 38Hum: W. Hume-Rothery and G.V. Raynor, J. Inst. Met., 63, 201-226 (1938).
