Mg-Pd

Mg-Pd (Magnesium-Palladium) A.A. Nayeb-Hashemi and J.B. Clark The assessed phase diagram for the Mg-Pd system is based on the differential thermal analysis, hardness, density, metallography, and X-ray analyses of [ 62Sav] and on the metallography and X-ray analyses of [59Fer]. According to [59Fer], the maximum solid solubility of Mg in (Pd) is as high as 25 at.% Mg. [68Wes] replaced Mg2.7Pd with Mg5Pd2, a homogeneous phase in the composition range of 25 to 28.56 at.% Pd. [60Kri] reported the two intermediate phases near 50 at.% Pd as MgPd (with some homogeneity range) and Mg0.9Pd1.1. Because there is no real evidence for the existence of a Mg2Pd3 compound, it appears that Mg0.9Pd1.1 is a better candidate for the intermediate phase near 50 at.% Pd and has been chosen for the assessed phase diagram. There is no indication of the existence of any intermediate phases near 75 at.% Pd. 59Fer: R. Ferro, J. Less-Common Met., 1, 424-438 (1959). 60Kri: P.I. Kripyakevich and E.I.
