Mg-Na

Mg-Na (Magnesium-Sodium) A.D. Pelton The Mg-Na system exhibits immiscibility in the liquid phase, with very low solubility of Na in solid (Mg) or of Mg in solid (Na). No intermetallic phases have been observed. The assessed phase diagram is based primarily on evaluation of the work of [06Mat], [67Kle], and [73Lan]. The liquidus, which reproduces the measured points of [67Kle] very well in the range 300 to 600 C, was smoothed by means of a thermodynamic analysis. The solubility of Na in the Mg-rich liquid was determined by [73Lan] from the emf of alloy concentration cells to be 2.1 at.% Na at 637 C and 2.7 at.% Na at 700 C, in good agreement with [06Mat], who reported 2.1 at.% Na at 637 C. 06Mat: C.H.
