La-Sc (Lanthanum-Scandium) K.A. Gschneidner, Jr. and F.W. Calderwood The assessed phase diagram for the La-Sc system is based on the work of [70Nau] and [70Sav]. Below the solidus, bcc gLa and bSc form a continuous solid solution, (gLa,bSc). Two eutectoid transformations at about 750 and 233 C result in regions of two-phase immiscibility. [70Lun] also reported two-phase immiscibility at low temperatures in the La-Sc system, and because no Sm-type structure was found, he concluded that Sc behaves more like the neighboring transition elements than it does a rare earth metal. 70Lun: C.E.
