Ir-Sb

Ir-Sb (Iridium-Antimony) H. Okamoto The assessed Ir-Sb phase diagram is based primarily on the data of [57Kuz]. The melting points were determined from cooling curves of alloys prepared from "chemically pure" components. The equilibrium phases are (1) the liquid, L; (2) the fcc terminal solid solution, (Ir); (3) hexagonal NiAs-type IrSb; (4) monoclinic IrSb2; (5) cubic CoAs3-type IrSb3; and (6) the rhombohedral terminal solid solution, (Sb). No information is available on the (Ir) phase. The melting point of IrSb2 is higher than 1050 C, because [77Kje] only measured the lattice parameters up to that temperature. IrSb3 forms by a peritectic reaction [57Kuz, 61Kje1]. According to these two reports, the peritectic temperature is probably close to 1000 C. The melting point of aSb is 630.755 C [Melt]. The L = IrSb3 + (aSb) eutectic temperature is 615 C [ 57Kuz]. 56Zhu: N.N. Zhuravlev and G.S. Zhdanov, Kristallografiya, 1(5), 509-513 (1956) in Russian; TR: Sov. Phys.
