In-Lu

In-Lu (Indium-Lutetium) H. Okamoto The assessed Lu-In phase diagram is based primarily on thermal, X-ray, and metallographic analyses of [83Yat]. The accuracy of the temperature scale may be no better than с5 C, because all temperatures quoted by [83Yat] are rounded to the nearest 10 C. The solubility of Lu in (In) is less than 0.011 at.% [74Die]. Significantly in disagreement with the assessed diagram, [85Vas] proposed a diagram that included Lu3In (25 to 32 at.% Lu, stable above 350 C), Lu2In (33. 3 to 33.5 at.% In), Lu3In2 (40 to 42 at.% In, melting congruently at the highest temperature for the Lu-In system), LuIn, and Lu2In5 (71.4 at.% In), based on emf and X-ray investigations. Because some of the phases identified by [85Vas] would be unique in the RE-In systems and because they provided no structural or thermal analysis data, the diagram of [85Vas] was not considered in this assessment. However, more detailed studies are needed to confirm or refute the diagram of [85Vas]. 64Kuz: Yu.B. Kuz'ma and V.Ya. Markiv, Kristallografiya., 9(2), 279-280 (1964) in Russian; TR: Sov. Phys.
