Ge-Ti

Ge-Ti (Germanium-Titanium) Editor The Ti-Ge phase diagram is redrawn from [89Rud]. The solid phases in the Ti-Ge system are (1) the (aTi), (bTi), and (Ge) solid solutions; (2) Ti5Ge3; (3) Ti6Ge5; and (4) TiGe2. The maximum solubility of Ti in (Ge) is 1.8 x 10-6 at.% , determined by composition analysis of single crystals of (Ge) grown from a liquid alloy [64Vas]. [70Yue] determined the eutectic composition as 14.9 at.% Ge by chemical analysis of the eutectic region of a zone-melted alloy. Other reported values of the eutectic composition are less accurate, because they were based on metallographic examination of as-cast alloys. Orthorhombic TiGe, reported by [57Age], was not observed. -H.O. 57Age: N. Ageev and V. Samsonev, Dokl. Akad. Nauk, SSSR, 112, 853-855 (1957) in Russian; TR: Proc. Acad. Sci. USSR, Appl.
