Ge-Sb

Ge-Sb (Germanium-Antimony) R.W. Olesinski and G.J. Abbaschian The Ge-Sb system contains a eutectic transformation at approximately 85 at.% Sb and 592 C. The equilibrium phases are (1) the liquid, L; (2) the (Ge) solid solution, which is retrograde, with a maximum solubility around 0.035 at. % Sb at 800 C; and (3) the (Sb) solid solution, with negligible solubility of Ge. The assessed phase diagram is based primarily on the work of [40Rut], [40Sto], [59Zhu], [72Mal], and [83Alf] and has been obtained by thermodynamic modeling. The calculations were based on the assumption that the enthalpy and entropy of mixing functions are temperature independent and that the mutual solid solubilities of Ge and Sb are nil. Editor's note: [86Bor] measured the liquidus and eutectic temperatures. The results were in excellent agreement with [Hansen]. 40Rut: K. Ruttewit and G. Masing, Z.
