Dy-Gd

Dy-Gd (Dysprosium-Gadolinium) K.A. Gschneidner, Jr. and F.W. Calderwood The assessed Dy-Gd diagram reflects the anticipated phase relationships for alloys prepared from high-purity (99.9 + at.% pure) materials. [71Mar] reproduced the phase diagram for the Dy-Gd system, based on six data points that formed a smooth curve defining the solidus of the system. This solidus had a slight downward curvature, and the liquidus was drawn as a dashed straight line that connected the melting points of the end members. Dashed solvus lines having a small gap between them indicated the probable temperature/composition relationship for the bcc = cph transformation, but no data are presented in support of these lines. Less pure alloys can be expected to perform more in accord with the diagram of [71Mar]. In the assessed diagram, straight single lines are used to represent the liquidus/solidus gap and the bcc/cph solvus gap, because the two-phase fields are so narrow. 71Mar: I.A. Markova, R.S.
