Cu-V

Cu-V (Copper-Vanadium) J.F. Smith and O.N. Carlson The assessed phase diagram for the V-Cu system is based on evaluation of the reports of [Hansen], [62Sav], [64Sav], and [67Efi]. The qualitative features include quite limited terminal solubility on the Cu-rich side, peritectic melting of the Cu-rich terminal solid solution, and a monotectic reaction at elevated temperatures. With decreasing temperature, the Cu-rich solvus becomes more Cu-rich. Studies on the closely related Nb-Cu system showed that interstitial impurities of 1.1 to 1.2 at.% can appreciably distort the phase relationships from the true binary equilibrium. This also appears to be the situation for the V-Cu system. 62Sav: E.M. Savitskii and U.K. Duisemaliev, Vestn. Akad. Nauk Kazakh. SSR, 18, 55-60 (1962). 64Sav: E.M. Savitskii, V.V.
