Cu-Tc

Cu-Tc (Copper-Technetium) P.R. Subramanian and D.E. Laughlin The assessed Cu-Tc phase diagram is based on a simple thermodynamic model [ 83Nie]. As such, it should be regarded as schematic and should be only used as a starting point for future phase equilibria studies. X-ray studies by [65Nie] did not reveal the presence of any intermediate phases in the Cu-Tc system. No other reports are available on this system. The melting points of pure Cu and Tc are 1084.87 and 2155 C, respectively [Melt]. The assessed equilibrium phases are (1) the liquid, L, having a miscibility gap (L1 + L2); (2) the A1 fcc terminal solid solution, (Cu), with limited or no solid solubility of Tc; and (3) the A3 Mg-type cph terminal solid solution, (Tc), with no solid solubility of (Cu). The alloying behavior of Tc is expected to parallel that of Re [62Dar, 86Ven], and comparison of the phase diagram of Cu-Tc with that of Cu-Re indicates that the essential features are the same in both systems. 62Dar: J.B.
