Cr-Re

Cr-Re (Chromium-Rhenium) M. Venkatraman and J.P. Neumann The assessed Cr-Re phase diagram is based on the work of [59Sav] and [77Lar]. From 0 to 20 at.% Re, the liquidus and solidus are taken from [77Lar]; the remainder of the diagram is based on [59Sav]. No measurements of the liquidus have been carried out in the Re-rich region of the phase diagram. Two peritectic reactions occur: one at 2354 C, corresponding to the incongruent melting of the s phase; the other at 2284 C, corresponding to the incongruent melting of the (Cr) phase. The presence of a single intermediate phase, s (Cr2Re3), with the tetragonal, s-type structure, is firmly established. Its homogeneity range extends from approximately 58 to 66 at.% Re. The N‚el temperature of pure Cr (311.5 K) is increased by Re additions of up to 5 at.% to a maximum of ~600 K. A further increase of the Re content (10 to 20 at.% Re) leads to a decrease in the N‚el temperature. The influence of Re on the N‚el temperature of Cr is very similar to that of Os, Rh, and Ru. The ( Cr) phase containing more than 20 at.% Re is superconducting. 59Sav: E.M. Savitskii, M.A. Tylkina, and K.B. Povarova, Russ. J. Inorg. Chem., 4(8), 873-874 (1959). 77Lar: L.N. Larikov, L.M.
