Co-Te

Co-Te (Cobalt-Tellurium) K. Ishida and T. Nishizawa The assessed phase diagram for the Co-Te system is based on [73Kle] and [86Tsc] , with review of the data of [56Har], [57Ari], [59Dud], [70Bro], [72Gef], [ 75Kje], and [78Cha]. The equilibrium phases are (1) the liquid, L, exhibiting a miscibility gap in the Co-rich region with a monotectic temperature of 1460 C; (2) the Co-rich fcc terminal solid solution, (aCo), with very small solid solubility of Te; (3) the Co-rich cph terminal solid solution, (eCo), with negligible solid solubility of Te, stable up to 422 C; (4) the hexagonal phase b(Co2Te3), with a homogeneity range from 54.5 to 65 at.% Te, stable up to the congruent melting temperature of 1015 C; (5) the orthorhombic phase, g( CoTe2), with a homogeneity range from 66.5 to 70 at.% Te, stable up to the peritectic temperature of 764 C; and (6) the Te-rich hexagonal solid solution, (aTe). No data on the solid solubility of Co in (aTe) are available. Magnetic susceptibility measurements showed that the b(Co2Te3) and g(CoTe2) phases are both paramagnetic [56Har, 65Sau]. The magnetic moments were determined in the composition range 56.5 to 66.7 at.% Te [56Har]. The g(CoTe2) phase is reported to be a semiconductor [65Sau]. 56Har: H. Haraldsen, F. Gronvold, and T.
