Cd-Ni

Cd-Ni (Cadmium-Nickel) F.A. Shunk and P. Nash The assessed phase diagram for the Cd-Ni system is characterized by (1) the Cd- rich eutectic, thermodynamically calculated at 0.63 at.% Ni and 318 C; (2) two peritectically formed intermediate phases, Cd5Ni and CdNi; and (3) negligible terminal solid solubilities. The assessed diagram is based primarily on the work of [55Lih], [63Lot], [69Gol], and [70Lju]. The most Cd-rich compound, Cd5Ni, has a homogeneity range of 12 to 19.2 at.% Ni and forms peritectically at 510 C. CdNi has a homogeneity range of 47.3 to 50 at.% Ni and forms peritectically at 695 C. Solubility of Ni in (Cd) may be extended to 12 at.% Ni, and solubility of Cd in (Ni) to >20 at.% Cd. [55Lih] indicated an intermediate phase near 29 at.% Ni designated Cd5Ni2. However, [69Gol] were unable to establish it.
