Ca-In

Ca-In (Calcium-Indium) H. Okamoto, V.P. Itkin, and C.B. Alcock The assessed Ca-In phase diagram is based on the X-ray, metallographic, and thermal studies of [64Bru] and was obtained by thermodynamic modeling of experimental data [78Del]. The three intermediate phases are BiF3-type Ca3In, CsCl-type CaIn, and hexagonal CaIn2. The congruent melting temperatures are 765, 895, and 835 C, respectively [64Bru]. The accepted melting temperature of bCa and the bCa = aCa allotropic transformation temperature are 842 and 443 C, respectively, whereas [64Bru] reported the respective temperatures as 853 and 452 C. Accordingly, part of the thermal analysis data obtained by [64Bru] may be ~10 C too high, although no adjustment has been made in the assessed diagram. No homogeneity range has been reported in any phase, including the terminal solid solutions. The observation by [49Ian] that the nominal CaIn3 composition is two-phase is consistent with the assessed diagram. 64Bru: G. Bruzzone and A.F. Ruggiero, J.
