Bi-Mg

Bi-Mg (Bismuth-Magnesium) A.A. Nayeb-Hashemi and J.B. Clark The equilibrium phase diagram of the Mg-Bi system consists of (1) the liquid; ( 2) the Mg-rich eutectic; (3) the Bi-rich eutectic; (4) a metatectic reaction; ( 5) the intermediate Mg3Bi2 compound, which undergoes a polymorphic transformation at 703 C, melts at 821 C, and has limited solubility for Mg; ( 6) the terminal solid solution, (Mg); and (7) the terminal solid solution, (Bi) , with negligible solid solubility of Mg. The assessed phase diagram is based primarily on the work of [34Gru], with minor adjustments to incorporate the liquidus temperatures of [62Wob] in the composition range 30.0 to 46.0 at.% Bi. 34Gru: G.
