Bi-Fe (Bismuth-Iron) H. Okamoto The assessed equilibrium phase diagram for the Bi-Fe system is based on [07Isa] and [65Wee1, 65Wee2], with review of the work of [30Tam] and [55Wee]. No intermetallic phases exist in this system, and no mutual solubility of Bi and Fe was detected in the liquid and the solid states [07Isa]. [65Wee1] expressed the solubility in liquid (Bi) as log (at.% Fe) = 2.26 -3490/ T (K). The solubility between 700 and ~900 C is expressed as log (at.% Fe) = 2.75 - 3980/T (K) [65Wee2]. The Fe liquidus boundaries in the assessed diagram are drawn according to these expressions, which may be only approximate above 900 C. [28Age] observed no diffusion of Bi in Fe at 1000 C. The wettability of liquid Bi to Fe observed at 600 to 1000 C may indicate diffusion of some Bi into Fe [35Tam]. 07Isa: E. Isaak and G. Tammann, Z. Anorg. Allg.
