Be-Bi

Be-Bi (Beryllium-Bismuth) H. Okamoto and L.E. Tanner The assessed phase diagram for the Be-Bi system is based primarily on the solubility data of Be in liquid Bi measured by [57Hor], with review of the data of [50Kel] and [65Wee]. The Be-Bi system was presumed to be a monotectic type [65Wee]. The melting point of bBe and the bBe = aBe allotropic transformation temperature are 1289 с 5 and 1270 с 6 C, respectively [Melt]. On adding Bi to molten Be, [50Kau] found that only 0.02 at.% Bi was soluble in the solid; [ 55RH] reported a value of 0.004 at.% Bi. The solubility limit of Be in solid (Bi) is not known. [77Haa] predicted the existence of the compound Be13Bi from the metallic-radii ratio of components, but this phase has not been found. 50Kau: A.R. Kaufmann, P. Gordon, and D.W. Lillie, Trans.
