Ba-Cd (Barium-Cadmium) Editor The Ba-Cd phase diagram is drawn as proposed by [72Bru] with a very minor modification for the liquidus composition of the L + BaCd = Ba2Cd eutectic reaction given by [75Dir], who also determined the Ba-Cd diagram independently. The difference between the diagrams of [72Bru] and [75Dir] is minor: the maximum temperature and composition deviations at the invariant points are only 7 C and 2 at.%, respectively, indicating both diagrams are reasonably accurate. The equilibrium phases of the Ba-Cd system are (1) the liquid, L; (2) the bcc terminal phase, (Ba); (3) MoSi2-type Ba2Cd [76Mer]; (4) CsCl-type BaCd [54Fer]; (5) orthorhombic BaCd2 [70Bru]; hexagonal Ba7Cd31 [ Pearson3] (from [74Bru]); (6) tetragonal BaCd11 [53San]; and (7) the cph terminal phase, (Cd).
