B-Os

B-Os (Boron-Osmium) Editor The B-Os phase diagram was estimated by [Spear] from the B-Re and B-Ir phase diagrams, where a trend toward lower boride melting temperatures with an increase in metal d-electrons are observed. B2Os, B3Os2, and BOs compounds exist in the proposed diagram. However, further investigations are definitely needed, because the existence of B3Os2 has not been confirmed and the existence of BOs is controversial: according to [61Kem], the equiatomic composition is a mixture of B2Os and (Os), whereas aBOs and a high-temperature bBOs were reported by [51Bud] and [71Rog], respectively. In addition, B5Os2, proposed by [61Kem] and confirmed by [62Aro], is not in the diagram of [Spear]. -H.O. 51Bud: J.H. Buddery and A.J.E. Welch, Nature, 167, 362 (1951). 61Kem: C.P. Kempter and R.J.
