B-N

B-N (Boron-Nitrogen) Editor No equilibrium diagram is available for the B-N system; however, [63Bun] reported a speculative P-T diagram for BN. The compound BN exists in various modifications at ambient as well as high pressures. Extrapolation of the pressure-temperature investigation of [63Bun] suggests that at ambient pressure the cubic zinc blende-type BN is stable below ~225 C, whereas hexagonal BN is stable above ~225 C and melts at ~3000 C. The hexagonal wurtzite-type BN is stable only at high pressures (>110 kbar). Other compounds reported in the B-N system are B25N [75Wil], B3N [18Kro], and BN6 [54Wib].-P.R. S. 18Kro: W. Kroll, Z.
