Au-Rb

Au-Rb (Gold Rubidium) A.D. Pelton The assessed phase diagram for the Au-Rb system is based primarily on the work of [61Kie] and was obtained by thermodynamic modeling. The melting points of the elements are from [Melt]. The boiling point of pure Rb is 688 C. Error limits of с25 C are estimated for the diagram. The existence of AuRb was reported by [43Som]. Rb may be soluble to 1 or 2 at.% in AuRb. Although AuRb is shown in the assessed diagram to melt incongruently, this conclusion is based on the single observation by [61Kie] of two closely spaced thermal arrests at 50.7 at.% Rb. Pending verification of this, the possibility that AuRb melts congruently around 506 C should not be ruled out. Au2Rb was reported by [37Ehr], who indicated that its range of homogeneity is narrow, but undetermined. Au5Rb, which most probably melts peritectically, was identified by [64Rau] to have the CaCu5 structure. 37Ehr: H.J. Ehrhorn, F. Weibke, and W. Biltz, Z. Anorg. Allg.
