Au-Cd (Gold-Cadmium) H. Okamoto and T.B. Massalski The equilibrium phases of the Au-Cd system are (1) the liquid, L; (2) the fcc terminal solid solution, (Au), with a maximum solid solubility of 32.5 at.% Cd in (Au) at 627 C; (3) the phases a1 and a2 in the composition range between approximately 24 and 35 at.% Cd; (4) the CsCl-type b phase, with several forms of martensitic modifications at low temperatures; (5) a succession of related phases d, d›, and d›› at temperatures above approximately 305 C; (6) the unrelated Au3Cd5 phase below 340 C; (7) the e phase with a possible martensitic transformation at ~270 C; (8) the closely related h and h› phases; and (9) the cph terminal solid solution, (Cd), with a maximum solid solubility of 3.5 at.% Au in (Cd) at 309 C. The assessed phase diagram is based primarily on the work of [06Vog], [15Sal], [29Dur], [40Owe], [61Hir], [ 64Fil], [69Hir], and [73Kom]. The b› and b›› martensitic structures are observed primarily at about 47.5 and 50 at.% Cd, respectively. The d›› phase essentially corresponds to the g phase reported in [Hansen]. The phase fields of e and e› are tentative, because of the lack of experimental data. The h and h› phases are also tentative. 06Vog: R. Vogel, Z. Anorg. Allg.
