Am-Cr

Am-Cr (Americium-Chromium) M. Venkatraman, J.P. Neumann, and D.E. Peterson No investigations of the Cr-Am system have been reported. However, Cr and Am, similar to other Cr-actinide systems, can be expected to form a simple eutectic phase diagram, with small terminal solubilities in the solid state. The assessed phase diagram was obtained by thermodynamic modeling, using the method of [85Ven]. All temperatures are in accord with the IPTS-68 temperature scale. For the (Cr) liquidus, the melting temperature of Cr was taken as 1863 C ( 2136 K). The two high-temperature allotropic forms of Am are probably in equilibrium with the liquid. Therefore, two liquidus curves must be calculated- one for (gAm) and the other for (bAm). The nature of the invariant three-phase equilibria at 1077 C (L + (gAm) + ( bAm)) and at 769 C (Cr + (bAm) + (aAm)) is not known. 85Ven: M. Venkatraman, J.P. Neumann, and D.E. Peterson, Bull.
