Ag-Tl (Silver-Thallium) M.R. Baren The equilibrium diagram for the Ag-Tl system is a eutectic diagram with a retrograde solidus curve at the Ag-rich end. The liquidus is from [49Rau] for compositions in the range 0 to 60 at.% Tl. The data of [56Kle] are used for higher Tl compositions up to the eutectic point and are consistent with a eutectic composition of 97.4 at.% Tl at 291 C. [49Rau] reported the eutectic at 291 C and 97.2 at.% Tl. The solubility of Ag in (Tl) has not been determined. However, [49Rau] suggested that it must be low, because the temperature of the phase transformation of Tl, i.e., b = a at 230 C, is not affected by the presence of Ag. [83Zan] prepared splat-cooled Ag-rich alloys with compositions up to 35 at.% Tl. Using X-ray diffraction, they found that the maximum solubility of Tl in Ag was increased to 9.5 at.% Tl as compared to the maximum equilibrium solubility of 7.8 at.% Tl [82Gla]. 40Chi: H.H.
