Ag-Ca

Ag-Ca (Silver-Calcium) M.R. Baren The assessed Ag-Ca equilibrium diagram is based on the data of [69Ale] for compositions between 0 and 50 at.% Ca and on the work of [70Pas] (as confirmed by [71Cam]) for compositions greater than 50 at.% Ca. The diagram is characterized by a lack of solid solution at either end. The compounds of Ag3Ca5 and AgCa3 were found by [69Ale], [70Pas], and [71Cam]. However, certain features of the equilibrium diagram determined by [69Ale] were probably in error due to sample contamination and, therefore, the data of [70Pas] and [71Cam] are presented for this region of the diagram. No data for this system were found for temperatures below about 470 C except for that of [69Ale]. They reported that DTA includes solid-state arrests between 70 and 98 at.% Ca at about 455 C. Given the uncertainty in the data for their alloys with high Ca concentrations, it is likely that these arrests correspond to the allotropic transformation of Ca. 62Ran: R.P. Rand and L.D.
