Ag-Au

Ag-Au (Silver-Gold) H. Okamoto and T.B. Massalski The equilibrium phases of the Ag-Au system are (1) the liquid, L; and (2) the fcc continuous solid solution, (Ag,Au). The assessed phase diagram is based primarily on the work of [59Whi], with review of the work of [54Wag], [57Whi], and [61Coo]. The liquidus and the solidus, as determined by thermal arrest methods and by thermodynamic evaluation, are separated by a gap of about 2 C. Because all recent thermodynamic measurements do not show any major inconsistency with the thermodynamic parameters on which [57Whi] and [59Whi] based their calculation of the phase diagram, their calculation is accepted as most nearly representing the phase relationships. Short-range order has been observed over a wide composition range, but long- range order has not been observed experimentally, although it may exist at low temperatures. 54Wag: C.
